What a beautiful, fun way to teach some geometry terms and concepts! My older kids got a boot out of the names, knowing the nods to Math terms and my younger kids loved finding out why the names were funny and learned the math concepts, my preK girl drew shapes that the tabular array was synthetic in as we read. Sir Cumference is a series of entertaining, clever, and imaginative medieval fantasy tales ready in a world full of fun geometry-based names and lands. I've always loved a good motion-picture show book, and I however do - and these books are a wonderful case of a quality picture book. I've enjoyed Sir Cumference immensely in both childhood and machismo.

Sir Cumference is a series of entertaining, clever, and imaginative medieval fantasy tales prepare in a world full of fun geometry-based names and lands. The reader follows the gamble of each book and discovers new math concepts forth with the knights and ladies in the stories - and sometimes dragons. I've always loved a good moving-picture show book, and I still practice - and these books are a wonderful case of a quality picture volume. I've enjoyed Sir Cumference immensely in both babyhood and adulthood.

Each volume is engaging and well-written, with endearing and clever characters, exciting adventures, and humor throughout. I laugh at the puns and plays on words and at the hilarious situations the characters frequently go through. I'grand amazed at the loveliness of the illustrations, which - like the text - are colorful, funny, exciting, and imaginative, besides as beautifully painted on actual canvas, with gorgeous lighting and colour.

And the math concepts presented in the text are humourously, clearly, and simply explained, while still retaining complex and sophisticated information of bones geometry and sometimes other areas of math. And in the context of a fun story, they're easy to remember and recollect. A very young child can understand the caption of the basic concept, the total explanation can aid the learning of an older student, and teens and adults can enjoy the clever books just as much.

I'm skillful at math, simply information technology's never come up easily to me, as information technology does for my siblings. I struggle to learn and understand math concepts when I can't empathise the why and how behind them. Fifty-fifty as a teen and adult, and as a child, reading Sir Cumference helped give me that brilliant low-cal-seedling moment of finally agreement why the equation to find the circumference or expanse of a circle is the style it is, and works the way it does. I was also overjoyed to recently notice the being of more Sir Cumference sequels that I'd wished for for many years.

I grew up with the first four SirSir Cumference books, and they're special to me, merely I enjoyed a couple of the new ones just every bit much. The first 4 books in the series are best read in order, but some of the afterwards books were non published chronologically, and they tin can be read in any order later on the outset book. For instance, The Isle of Immeter can be read in any club after the first two books, but it should exist read before The Viking's Map, since it introduces a new female person protagonist. My favorite books in the series are definitely the ones featuring Sir Cumference's son Radius as the main graphic symbol - the ones I grew up on, and also the slightly newer books I read more recently that follow both Radius and his female cousin Per of Immeter.

The Sir Cumference books are total of sweet characters, exciting tales, adventure, entertaining humor, learning, and more. All this is contained in a short picture book - no pocket-size feat! I highly recommend the Sir Cumference serial to people of all ages who enjoy a clever and fun story, peculiarly to teachers and homeschoolers for instruction math in an entertaining and engaging style.

I did actually savour this volume and will bask using this book with children a lot! I recall the way information technology includes all the maths vocabulary is really clever and I have just learned that it is function of a serial so I'd love to read more.
It has got some American terms which I think children may struggle to look by and understand just perhaps those bits could be left out or made clear from the commencement.
Overall, a really adept maths book and loads of opportunities for the children to learn near shape and do th I did really enjoy this book and will enjoy using this volume with children a lot! I think the mode it includes all the maths vocabulary is actually clever and I have just learned that it is part of a series so I'd beloved to read more.
Information technology has got some American terms which I think children may struggle to look past and empathize but maybe those $.25 could be left out or made clear from the start.
Overall, a really good maths book and loads of opportunities for the children to learn nearly shape and exercise the maths along with the story. ...more

What a non intimidating fashion to introduce kids to math concepts. Loved these books! My son nevertheless says he remembers that the radius is half of the diameter because of Prince Radius and his mother Lady Di Ameter.

Very clever book. Short enough to read with children in one sitting. There are multiple opportunities for further discussion with children, about both the book's word play and meaning of different mathematical concepts. Suitable for KS2.

A truly excellent volume - a fairy tale gamble that teaches children the history/legend of Male monarch Arthur, the difficulties of negotiations and a wonderful amount of mathematics!

Interesting take on a folk tale but too punny for me and I am a math person who enjoys a good play on words. It could exist a book to keep in a classroom library for a student who might enjoy knights, but dislikes math. Of all the books I have read this semester, this 1 actually did disappoint me the most. The illustrations were very detailed, beautiful, vivid and fabricated the story menses fairly well. Cindy Neuschwander had a great thought, simply it just fell a tad curt. This picture book tells a humorous story about how King Arthur and his knights ended up with a round tabular array. Information technology too goes through shapes— parallelograms, circles, squares, diamonds, ovals, triangles, hexagons, etc. I think it would help children remember the definitions in a fun way. Stories are great way to explain and retain concepts! :) I specially recommend this book if you lot are trying to teach a math lesson... just as a story, information technology is not all that entertaining. I recall get-go discovering this books over ten years ago when I was working equally a children'southward librarian. At the time, I thought they were clever and were a fun way to innovate elementary school children to mathematical terms and ideas. I still think all that. The story isn't exactly vivid, but it isn't bad, either. And I do wish the volume had taken the idea a little further to incorporate actual math, such equally finding the circumference and the surface area of the circumvolve. I absolutely love this volume. This is one of my favorite math books ever. I am not a huge fan of math in the starting time place, but this book combines literature with mathematics in a perfect style. The plot line is engaging enough to go along students focused, and perhaps even focused plenty to forget they are learning math concepts! The seamless integration of math into the progression of the plot is what made this book so corking for me.

This was such a clever idea and really well done. Miss v enjoyed the story of Sir Cumference trying to find different ways of designing a table so that King Arthur and all his knights could exist comfortable when sitting downwards for their meetings. We learned about unlike shapes and the story dove-tailed well into ending on the round table (and naming aspects of measurement after Sir Cumference and his family unit).

The volume does a fantastic chore of taking circle terms (circumference, radius, diameter) and putting information technology into fun story that kids can relate to. Cindy Neuschwander is a native Californian, born in San Diego, CA. Her father was a naval officer and later a high school instructor and her mother was a homemaker. She has ane younger brother.

Cindy graduated with a BA in International Studies from Willamette University and earned an MA from Stanford University. She has taught all grades in elementary schoolhouse as well equally high schoolhouse.

Cindy began writing
